This is Lazarus the Weimaraner mix! He is about six years old and looking for a new home. Weimaraners are energetic dogs known for their stamina. At about 56 pounds, Lazarus needs a home that can provide a good outlet for his energy. He is also a real sweetheart. Submitted by the Humane Society of Morgan County Georgia.
Update: Congratulations to Lazarus on finding his forever family 🙂
This is adorable Newman. He is a six month old Basset, Corgi mix. He is very sweet, friendly and calm. He is a little on the timid side though. Here he is waiting on his forever family, which he happened to find last Saturday. Submitted by the Humane Society Morgan County Georgia.
Aneeko is a very sweet and friendly one year old boy. He loves to be with people and he loves attention. He is a Husky, so he is very smart, energetic, and an escape artist. He is looking for an active family or companion that he can go on lots of adventures with, and keep his brain active and burn off some of his energy. Submitted by Humane Society of Morgan County Georgia.
Abbie is a one year old Cattledog mix. Abbie is a very sweet girl, and she gets along with several of the dogs here at the shelter. Abbie is a super fun and very loyal dog. And she loves, loves, loves the water! Abbie would be an excellent companion for hiking, camping, or a day at the lake. Abbie has been here so long, now 250 plus days, that she seems desperate to get someone to notice her. She just can’t understand why no one wants her. She does her best to get attention when someone comes in. She absolutely gives the best kisses and wants nothing more than to be next to you and loved. Yet day after day she watches as everyone passes her by. If only someone would take the time to get to know her instead of judging her right away by her behavior behind bars. Give her the time to know you before judging her shyness when you first take her out. There has to be someone out there for this beautiful girl. Submitted by the Humane Society Morgan County Georgia.
Update… 275 days later, Abbie has found her family… She was not overlooked this time. Congratulations sweet girl, we are so happy for you!
2/27/19 update: It has been two months since bringing Abbie home, and it has been wonderful! I remember when I was looking for a buddy and her profile would come up over and over but I had the concern about how long she was at the shelter. Something must be wrong with the dog. But I went and visited her for about an hour and my mind was set at ease. She was very sweet and playful. She had great fun with the other dogs at the shelter along with the positive words the staff had for her. So I decided to adopt her. All I can say is don’t judge a dog by the amount of time spent at the shelter. Sometimes it just takes time for the right family. By the way, you all do a great job at the shelter taking care of the pets! Thank You! Abbie’s family.
Shadow, who was known as Pongo at the rescue shelter, is growing like a weed and has fit into our family perfectly. He earned his name by always following us around, like a little Shadow. He makes us laugh at his antics all the time, he is such a joy. Thank you SO much! Submitted by the adopting family from the Humane Society Morgan County Georgia.
Why is Wyatt still at our shelter? This little guy is just adorable and should have been adopted long ago. He is two years old, good with other dogs and good with kids. He has cute, short, stubby little legs, leading us to believe he is part Basset Hound or Dachshund (or both). He is just the friendliest little guy whose tail is constantly in motion and he loves to be scratched behind his ears. Submitted by Washington Wilkes Animal Shelter, Georgia.
Our shelter just received a plethora of puppies. Introducing Poncho (pictured above), Panda, Patches, Perdita, Pablo, Petey and Pongo. These super cute fluff balls are two month old Great Pyrenees, Border Collie mixes. Almost impossible to find a sweeter combination, and frankly we almost can’t take it. These pups will be ready to find new homes very soon. Scroll down to see the rest of the litter. Submitted by the Humane Society of Morgan County Georgia.

Echo is a sweet, friendly, playful one year old girl. She loves everyone she meets, and everyone who meets her instantly falls for her. She is a happy, easy going girl, who loves to go on walks, play ball, or even go for little rides. Submitted by the Humane Society Morgan County Georgia.
This is Roo, a sweet, friendly, energetic little boy. He is very happy, and loves to play. All work and no play makes Roo a dull dog! He is making sure he takes time to play during his busy work day up here at the shelter office. He is still waiting on his forever family after about three months here at the shelter. Submitted by the Humane Society of Morgan County Georgia.
August 17th, 2018 Update: It has taken Roo 113 days to find his family! But if you’d have seen how he acted when they came to get him, you’d agree, the wait was definitely worth it to him! An update on Rocky Road…
Hello! We just wanted to give a little update on Rocky Road (adopted in August). Rocky is the perfect addition to our family! He loves cuddles, playing with his fur sister, running and chasing deer and squirrels, and sleeping anywhere he can (the car, under the table, and in anything you leave on the ground)! He’s one of the sweetest and most loving dogs we’ve ever met and we are so thankful for the Humane Society of Morgan County for bringing Rocky to our home and family.
